Will Smith is certainly always helping out with charitable causes. Now, he can be proud that his children are following in his footsteps in this way. Will Smith’s children, Jayden and Willow, recently took part in a new charity campaign, Buy Life. They had their picture taken, along with a large number of other celebrities, for the Keep a Child Alive charity co-founded by Alicia Keys and her husband, music producer Swizz Beatz.
Keep a Child Alive provides care and support for families affected by HIV and AIDS in African and India. The star-studded campaign for Buy Life involved Katie Holmes, Serena Williams, Ryan Seacrest, Will Smith’s kids and others sporting grey t-shirts with the campaign slogan Buy Life on the front. Each t-shirt actually includes a unique barcode which can be scanned using several smart-phone applications. The user can then make donations to the charity right from the barcode on the t-shirt.
In up-to-the-minute news, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith were spotted on Saturday, April 17th at the American Red Cross Charity fundraiser in Santa Monica, California. The Red Tie Affair Fundraiser Gala was held at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel.
It’s now been almost two months since the earthquake hit Haiti. One of the many items that the country’s leaders are asking other nations to help to provide is tents. They need these tents to shelter thousands of homeless victims who have been living on the streets of Port Au Prince.
This weekend, some of the biggest starts in Hollywood came out to support Haiti and to raise money for the people there. Soon after the earthquake hit on January 12th, George Clooney spoke with the MTV Networks president to try to pull together a star-studded telethon.
Certainly, Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett-Smith couldn’t have known just how well-timed their charity work would be. Beginning on January 8th, Will and Jada joined forces with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), along with other celebrities, to eradicate hunger in Haiti.
