Men in Black 3 is scheduled to begin shooting in New York in September. The majority of the film, according to insiders, will take place in 1969 due to a time traveling enemy (Jemaine Clement) who will force Jay (Will Smith) to follow him to the past. Barry Sonnenfeld will be on board to direct with a script written by David Koepp.

According to Variety, Will Smith, James Lassiter and Ken Stovitz of Overbrook Entertainment are all teaming up with Debbie Allen to produce a film about African-American neuroscience professor Dr. S. Allen Counter. Farhad Safinia has been tapped to pen the script.
