Four years ago, Scott Harrison started the nonprofit charity:water. The organization drills wells to bring clean water to developing communities around the world. Each year in September, when Harrison’s birthday falls, the organization has an annual campaign to urge Americans to forgo their birthday gifts for charity:water.

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are joining the cause, donating their September birthday money to clean water projects in Africa. Learn more about this amazing organization and about how Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are helping it with this video.

Certainly, Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett-Smith couldn’t have known just how well-timed their charity work would be.  Beginning on January 8^th, Will and Jada joined forces with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), along with other celebrities, to eradicate hunger in Haiti.

With this goal in mind, they signed special artwork that was donated to the Nobel Peace Prize concert last month.  The artwork, which Will Smith personally decorated and signed with the words, “There can be no true peace in the world while there is hunger,” is being sold on eBay.

All proceeds from the auction will help schoolchildren in Haiti to have nutritious meals.
