Jada Pinkett Smith is rumored to be in negotiations to play the legendary character of Stella Kowalski in Tennessee Williams’ most famous of plays, “A Streetcar Named Desire.” The latest revival of this Pulitzer Prize-winning play will be directed by Emily Mann, and is scheduled to open on Broadway sometime in early 2011. The original Stella was played by Jessica Tandy in the late 1940s opposite the then-unknown Marlon Brando who played her husband Stanley Kowalski. The latest revival is also hoping to cast Will Smith, Jada’s husband, in the role of Stanley.

Hollywood is not, unfortunately, the place where too many couples stay together. With difficult schedules, too much fame, and other issues, it’s a wonder that anyone keeps it together.
A few great couples do seem to be making it – and Will Smith is proudly at the top of that list. Here are a few of the couples that have stayed together longer than most in Hollywood, and who are still making it work for them.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson: They’ve been married for twenty years and are raising two children together.

Will Smith and Jada Pickett: They met on the set of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and have now been together for ten years. Raising their two children, they are happily married and are always working on a charity or other activity together.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick: They’ve been together for ten years. They have a son, and have recently become the parents of twin girls who were born with a surrogate.
