If you’ve been on the edge of your seat to learn more about the upcoming film, Men in Black 3 with Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, you don’t need to wait any longer. Here’s the up-to-the-minute scoop.

Men in Black 3 is scheduled to begin shooting in New York in September. The majority of the film, according to insiders, will take place in 1969 due to a time traveling enemy (Jemaine Clement) who will force Jay (Will Smith) to follow him to the past. Barry Sonnenfeld will be on board to direct with a script written by David Koepp.

And if you like to have your calendar organized nice and early – make sure to mark May 25, 2012 as the start date for the latest in the Men in Black series.

Columbia Pictures has officially announced that the third part of the Men in Black series will appear on May 25, 2012.  Will Smith has committed to continuing his role as James Darrel Edwards III or Agent J.  This time, the film will be in 3D and will use a time travel element to move the characters and action from the present day back to 1969.

Barry Sonnenfeld is set to direct again, while Steven Spielberg will return to be the executive producer.  The Men in Black series, which is based on the comic book by Lowell Cunningham, grossed $589 million worldwide for the first film in 1997, and $442 million in global ticket sales for the 2002 sequel.

According to HollywoodNews.com, Men in Black 3 is getting ready to start. Director Barry Sonnenfeld has told Roger Friedman from the HollywoodNews.com that they are ready to go. Will Smith has already signed to star in the third edition of the incredibly popular series; Tommy Lee Jones is already said to be in as well.

The most exciting part of this new project is that Men in Black 3 will apparently be in 3D. Certainly, Sony looks forward to introducing a blockbuster for next Memorial Day, May 2011, and this just might be it!
